This week BES first grade participated in a nutrition unit sponsored by The University of Florida Calhoun County 4-H.  The nutrition unit the students learned about was based on the book, "Growing Vegetable Soup" by Lois Ehlert.  County 4-H leader, Whitney Cherry, talked about the importance of washing fruits and vegetables and the different ways germs can be transmitted.  First grade students planted seeds in class and watered them.  Ending the week the first grade students brought in vegetables to wash and prepare to make our own creation of vegetable soup.  It was DELICIOUS!  Great job 1st grade students!
